  2. Hey Mike, not trying to stir more shit about the D2, but here's a test you can run.

    Build a coil.  Juice it up.  Set a temperature.  Use the +/- "resistance lock".  Fire the coil without blowing or drawing on it and watch the resistance climb, and note where it hits the max reading, (usually pretty easy to hear too as it starts to rattlesnake.).

    Now bump up the temp 20F.  Fire it again (making sure it's still juiced as good as it was before, and don't worry about it now being a warm coil).  Note the max resistance display/rattlesnake point.  It's increased.

    Bump it up another 20F, repeat the above.  Increased again.  Go crazy and bump it up 100F from your original, increased again.

    Now, while everything is still warm (but still well-juiced) go back to your original temp setting, repeat the above.  Displayed resistance at the rattlesnake point should be damn close if not exactly the same as when you started, and you can walk back through all temp settings you chose and they should be the same as your first read too, give or take a few hundreds of an ohm.

    That, to me, is pretty good proof that it has a solid baseline derived from using the lock function.

    Do the same experiment with a build that you don't "lock" and see what happens.  Not as consistent.

    That said, it'd would have been better for all concerned if they simply hid the climbing resistance, and showed the estimated temperature instead, since it's really derived from the resistance climb anyway.  This was a programming shortcut, don't know if it was to save a few hours of coding and testing time,  a limitation in the "budget" processor they used in the 130H, or just plain "we don't give a shit" but it was for sure a mistake in retrospect.

  4. Yea Mike I worry about atty lock a lot. I just ordered the segeli 75 watt with the aeolus v2 pro. Atty lock was the main thing I worried bout due to using nikel a lot and didn't want to blow my coils or fry my lungs. Lol. Thanks for the video. That trick with the aeolus looks like it will work better than other ways I've seen it done. Example vapnfagn did it from the 510 pin but messed his up. Hopefully I won't have an issue fingers crossed. Thanks again Mike! Also element vape didn't let me use my card for some reason so I got my combo from vapordna also they had 10$ off ecc code. Yea bro hit that shit and vape on vape fam!

  6. i think until we get some industry standards/regulations im not thinking temp control is a good thing. with this company doing this, that company doing that, and that companies product not doing this, we need a base line on how this stuff works

    "You're misinterpreting how it works and what the screen shows. When you press the up+down buttons it does lock in the cold resistance internally. The screen shows the hot resistance live while the fire button is being pressed. If it didn't save the cold resistance the temp control would not work at all.

    It's how TC devices were supposed to work. That's how the original DNA40 was supposed to work (according to Evolv's documentation for the board). But Evolv had that hidden undocumented resistance "refinement" feature, which they only revealed once Phil Busardo asked them about his drifting temperature issues, and for which they had to introduce the "resistance lock" fix. Since then users have become paranoid about devices needing resistance or atty lock and manufacturers have made it so users are reassured with locking symbols and non-changing resistance displays.

    But if a device hasn't got such a refinement algorithm going on in the background continually second guessing the cold resistance, then it will use the value that it picked up when you attached the cold atomiser and told it to 'read resistance'. And then a better use for the display is to give the user information about the changing resistance of the coil as it's being vaped.

    That cold resistance is locked in memory pf the IPV D2 for sure. Otherwise the temp regulation would not work as well as we've already seen demonstrated in other vids. The temp cutoff would be all over the place from one button press to the next."

I appreciate your integrity Mike.  If the resistance moves during vape, it does not have resistance lock.  Secondly, with all of the atomizers out there, I can't see why I'd want to buy one that I have to screw with.  Reverse threading barrel is the worst idea I've ever heard of and I'm certainly not going to go through all of the gyrations to make it right when it's obvious design flaw.  I didn't buy the V1 and I'm not buying the V2.  Thanks for the reviews and pointing out the downside to each device so we don't get stuck with something we care not to mess with.

  9. hey mike thanks for the videos….alls i know is the d2 i got the chip was defective . in temp mode when you fired it . it would keep firing untill you unscrewed the tank or popped out the battery …there shipping me a new one we'll see..

  10. so I have my ipv d2 right here with a smok tct with a 0.2 at 7 watts and this fucking thing is firing like at least I'd 40 watts or so does yours have the same problem and it does this to any resistance coils

  11. Nice video as always mike! You, vapnfagan and TVC are my go to guys when lookin up new vapegear, keep up the good work. I just bought the ipv d2 hope the ohm locking feature is fixed on the final product! And im looking for a rta, im stuck between the billow v2 and goliath v2. Ive seen ur review of each rta and seems like u loved the goliath v2, so im going for that one : p. Ive heard some whispers about the GEM rta by mark bugs is awsome and could be the rta of 2015! The reviews i could find on youtube of the tank is limited u should review that.

  12. I'm not sure that locking in the resistance is a good thing. I say this because the way nickel and titanium wire acts as it heats up. So perhaps it should be opposite. You build your coil juice it up and set your temperature you like to vape at, fire it up then lock it right after it hits temp protection.

  13. Mike I don't want to beat the dead horse but just wanted to give some perspective to IPV D2 resistance jumping around.

    I have X Cube II and IPV D2. I use a dual coil nickel build at .08 ohms and vape at 425 degrees F. When I vape on X Cube II its LED shows rise in temperature and then stops when it reaches the desired temperature. When I vape on IPV D2 LED shows rise in resistance and stops at .18 ohms and stays around .18 ohms. Now if we use temperature coefficient and calculate resistance of .08 nickel build at 425 degrees F, it comes out to be .18 ohms. It's just that IPV D2 shows change in resistance instead of temperature. They made a mistake in showing change in resistance instead of temperature. That was a bad decision at their end as a user will be more interested in seeing changes in temperature.
