Personally it is my favorite of the RDTA's that I've used. Like some people have said it's a learning curve to filling the tank. I learned its easier to fill up right with a longer dripper that fits in past the cotton
I underestimated how much of a pain in the arse refilling this thing would be. I refilled maybe 2-3 times and now it's sitting in a box in my closet. It's strange. Even with the wick pushed away from filling port it still seems to easily overflow even when the tank is pretty much empty.
I found that IJoy tanks have the same problem with filling, seems most RDTA's out there run into this issue but as you said, the setup of the velocity deck could have been better and just had four dedicated wicking channels so that there is no obstruction of the fill port. This would have made it a hum dinger even with smaller builds. – Yes please enter me into the giveaway Mike, thank you for your honest reviews, love your work mate. *edit* what is with the 60+ dislikes, do some people out there expect lies to con you into buying something not suited to you?? Got to give credit to honesty
Thanks for your work and time for our benefit I would like to enter to win iffin the opportunity is still available my luck prolly a year short and a $22 later than I'm supposed to be ? LOL Heaven gifts has them on clearance for $37 or so Thanks again Mike…Mikey out (~);€>
Good review. Bought one on spec, and it works very well, but I have found the same problem. Just using it first time now, and having watched your review I filled it before dabbing the cotton. Leaks a lot less with the 'upper air flow only' sleeve on, and the fill isn’t messy with dry cotton; I suspect there'll be some mess on subsequent fills from pulling out the cotton to refill. And with larger coils, so you can stuff more cotton in, there's virtually no leakage. But it's not a unit I’d carry around.
I’ll use my Dejavu to carry around, (and keep this Smok unit on the table for home use), because even though the Dejavu has only a tiny reservoir, it never leaks, no matter what, because it has that spring-loaded fill mechanism, which is brilliant. Watched your review of that unit, which was also helpful.
I paid only $12 Canadian for mine, so still worth it.
considering "new old stock" of these are under $10 now, probably worth grabbing one to mess around with. After seeing other reviews and different wicking methods for the fill side, I think it should be a cinch to get one of these performing well.
You cut your cotton too short for the RDTA, the shorter cotton works for the RDA. When the cotton is longer it will reach to lower into the tank and you can move is away from the fill port. It also means it soaks up the juice from lower down.
